Works with modifications

The heater is trash, and when I called, I was offered no help. It cooked 3/4 of a round of chicks on the lowest setting. I trashed the heater, bought a Brinsea EcoGlow Safety 1200, and made a lid out of chicken wire and wood edges to fit, so I could see the chicks and adjust the airflow with the provided solid metal lid slid in/out for a larger area of space open in the middle. NOW it seems to be working alright, and NOW, I actually love it.

A little expensive but is well built-- assembly was a little tedious, but not difficult. Unlike others I did not have too much difficulty with the instructions but if you aren't handy I could see it being a problem. I put it together alone in about an hour; a helper would be useful. I was short one washer, but that wasn't critical. All in all it is a good product and much better than a stock tank or plastic box.

Outstanding product! Reminds me of the brooders in all the feed stores when I was growing up. Was packaged well so checking parts was easy. Instructions very well written and easy to follow. A little time consuming to assemble by myself, (3 hours), but with 2 people I'm sure it would be a snap. Should last well past my lifetime. Looking forward to brooding some pheasant and chuckers!!
