Description
The Green-Winged Dove, also known as the Common Emerald Dove or Asian Emerald Dove, is renowned for its captivating bright emerald green back and wings. It is a widespread resident breeding bird across the tropical and subtropical regions of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia.
These doves are characterized by their bright emerald green plumage, along with a distinctive dark vinous pink head and underparts. Male Green-Winged Doves can be identified by a white patch on the edge of their shoulders and a grey crown, features that females lack. During the breeding season, the male performs an intricate bobbing dance to attract a mate, showcasing its vibrant green feathers.
They build nests from twigs and are known to be attentive parents, breeding successfully in both small cages and large aviaries. Their diet mainly consists of various seeds and fruits, though they can also eat feed similar to other fowl. Their soft, moaning coo adds a tranquil ambiance to their environment, emphasizing their serene beauty.
The emerald dove is known for being a good parent and breeds well in captivity.
Do not house with ring-neck doves.

These are young, non-mated pigeons that have not been flown. They range in age from 3 to 18 months.
