Great construction -- but ladies size down

by Kim WG on Jul 20, 2024

The quality of the crates is great, and the assembly is easy (tip, make sure to really check alignment before pounding tabs through). HOWEVER, they are quite heavy even when empty (about 20 lbs empty)-- it's good because they are made of some solid material, but it's difficult because I can only put about 30 lbs worth of chickens in before I hit my limit. The handles are on the short ends, which makes size, but dimensions wise they are just a wee bit too far apart for my little lady arms to easily reach. I would never be able to lift one on my own packed with broilers heading to the butcher. (Would I be able to lift the smaller size one on my own if it were full of broilers? Probably also no, but I might try.) If I had realized this ahead of time, I would have ordered more crates of the smaller size, just to sometimes pretend that I am an independent woman who don't need no man, unless I need to move a crate of chickens.
