Description
Explore the splendor of Red Golden Pheasants at Stromberg's! We specialize in providing a vibrant selection of this beloved bird species, ideal for adding a burst of color to your aviary.
Red Golden Pheasants are calm, hardy, and one of the easiest pheasants to raise, making them a wonderful choice for both experienced and new bird keepers.
Unique Red Golden Pheasant Mutations
Males are the colorful showstoppers, with scarlet red body, radiant yellow, golden crest and richly colored plumage. Their tail feathers make up about two-thirds of their total body length, and during the breeding season, their golden/orange cape feathers fan out spectacularly to attract females.
Females are a more subdued mottled brown, which helps them hide from predators while nesting. They are smaller than males, with a tail about half their total body length. Chicks hatch with similar brownish coloring for camouflage.
We offer adult males, juvenile pairs, and full-color pairs.
General Care
Red Golden Pheasants adapt well to smaller aviaries, but more space lets males show off their plumage, particularly their central tail feathers, while keeping stress levels low. They are winter hardy and adapt well in Northern climates.
A primary diet of high-protein game bird feed should be offered and supplemented with grains, insects and fresh produce. Additional protein during breeding season supports feather development and overall health.
