Description
Portuguese Tumbler Pigeons are a distinguished performance breed celebrated for their remarkable acrobatic skills. Known for their ability to perform flips and rolls during flight, these small and agile birds capture the fascination of pigeon enthusiasts around the world. Their lively nature, combined with their pleasing appearance, makes them a popular choice for both flight displays and breeding.
Originating from Portugal, these pigeons are considered an ancient breed, possibly developed from English and French tumblers. They feature an erect stance, a strong chest, and come in a variety of colors and patterns, adding to their visual appeal. Male Portuguese Tumblers display a unique courtship ritual, walking on tiptoes and puffing out their chest to attract mates.
Renowned for their agility and speed, Portuguese Tumbler Pigeons are distinguished from rollers by their performance style—typically executing one or two flips in flight, rather than a series of backward somersaults. While they may be less common outside of Portugal, their captivating aerial displays and rich history make them a treasured breed for enthusiasts and breeders alike.
