If you don't have a broody hen, a brooder is essential to successfully raise poultry hatchlings. They don't need to be fancy, but a good brooder must be reliable and consistent. Of course, folks who raise a lot of young birds know that higher end models offer added features that make care and maintenance much easier. Chick & Quail Brooder

# CQB - New design, galvanized steel construction. Poly feeder & drinker included. Feed trough fills from outside and holds approximately 7 lbs. Universal water drinker 3 liter capacity with self-cleaning trough. Capacity 100 day old chicks, 50 four week old chicks or 100 quail chicks to the fourth week. PVC coated wire mesh floor. For baby gamebirds, cover the floor with paper towel or cage board for the first week or so. Do not use slick paper such as newspaper. Dropping pan is easily removed for cleaning. Overall size is 42"L x 27" w x 19.5 " H (interior height 10"). 250 watt heating element thermostatically controlled. 115 V.

# CQGU - Identical to the CQB except there are NO heater units. These grow-out cages are not designed for birds that require headroom greater than 10". May be stacked 4 high.

New Universal Box Type Brooders

Poultry/Gamebired Brooder

All three side panels and back door are easily removed for cleaning. Comes with clear front panel for easy viewing and display, plus three troughs which may be used for water or feed. Any trough can be converted to water automatically with item PGB-AW. Thermometer and wafer thermostat are included and are accurate to 1 degree. Floor is 1/2" mesh which allows droppings to pass through easily. For quail chick especially, it is recommended to use item DACB paper or paper towel on top of the wire mesh for the first 4-7 days. Brooder is universal as each side panel comes with an adjustable gate to regulate openings for chick type and age, to allow them access to feed and water. Baby quail require the use of item BBF feeder and item NDF founts for the first three weeks. Drop pans are easily removed for cleaning and are made of light weight aluminum. Grow Out Cage System

Growing Cage Item GROCA - It can be used for holding or growing pen for smaller birds. The inside dimensions are 36" L x 30" W with 9 3/4" headroom. There are sliding door panels on front and sides that have 1" x 4" mesh. The top half of the panels are open to allow birds access to feed and water in troughs hanging outside the cage.
